Programme Overview

Great teaching changes everything. The Educator Development programme trains and mentors local teachers to strengthen classroom practice and build confidence.

We provide ongoing support through mentorship, lesson planning, workshops, and peer learning groups. Our Fellowship Programme grows a new generation of local teachers who train with us and return to teach in their own communities.

Why it

In rural South Africa, teachers often work in isolation, with limited support and few opportunities to grow professionally.

  • Class sizes can exceed 90 learners
  • Digital access and teaching resources are scarce
  • Teachers rarely receive in-class mentoring or subject-specific support
  • Professional development is infrequent and difficult to access

KHULA’s approach changes that by offering regular, localised, long-term support that helps teachers strengthen their practice and stay motivated in challenging environments.
